Arsenal star Mesut Ozil told he doesn’t deserve wage demands
MESUT OZIL does not deserve to earn £300,000 a week, says former Germany international Didi Hamann.
Mesut Ozil wants a huge pay rise at Arsenal
Arsenal are negotiating a new contract for Mesut Ozil, whose current deal expires at the end of next season.
The Germany star wants a major increase on his current £140,000-a-week wages.
He has also claimed he will not pen a new deal until the future of manager Arsene Wenger is resolved.
No player in that entire Arsenal squad is worth that kind of money
But Hamann believes his compatriot has no right to hold Arsenal to ransom after his displays this season.
“Mesut Ozil’s performances have been questioned. He’s never been a player to perform over the entire season,” Hamann told PaddyPower.
“When he’s on, Ozil is as good to watch as any top player. However, there’s definitely games where he hasn’t offered enough at all.
“A player like him should be creating two or three chances a match, even on an off day.
Ozil supposedly wants £300,000 a week to stay at Arsenal
You know what you get with him as a valuable player to Arsenal, but does he do it in the big games often enough? Probably not.”
Arsenal sit sixth in the Premier League and defeat against Manchester United on Sunday (4pm) would severely dent their hopes of finishing in the top four.
They face Chelsea in the FA Cup final on 27 May.
But Hamann thinks the Arsenal players have still underperformed this term and that no one is good enough to earn the sort of money Ozil is demanding.

Mesut Özil on speaking to Wenger about transfer to Arsenal
“I don’t believe Ozil deserves a reported £300,000-a-week contract extension, in fact no player in that entire Arsenal squad is worth that kind of money,” he said.
“I would offer Ozil a new deal at Arsenal alright, but only on the right terms.
“I’d make the offer performance related because it should act as a motivation tool.
“If his contributions see Arsenal finish in the top four next season, or even emerge as champions, then no one will have a problem with him earning top dollar.”
