David Beckham on N’Golo Kante: He’s a special talent
Kante joined Chelsea from Leicester in a £32million deal last summer.
The France midfielder has helped the Blues move four points clear at the top of the table, and is on course to win back-to-back titles with different clubs.
And last night he beat Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexis Sanchez and his Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard to the PFA Player of the Year award.
Ryan Bertrand has revealed why he voted for Chelsea star N'Golo Kante as Player of the Year
Chelsea next face Southampton tomorrow, and Saints defender Bertrand claims he voted for Kante to win the award as he wanted a defensive-minded player to get the recognition.
"I voted for Kante," Bertrand told Goal.
"I think he is a great player.
"He has gone into Chelsea’s team and he’s done amazing and proved to be key to them.
"I thought Hazard would naturally grab the plaudits for scoring the goals.
"That’s what goals and assists do. They grab the minds of people but want Kante has done is amazing. It is great for him to get that recognition.
"He has managed to attract people’s eyes despite playing in that defensive position this year, so I think he deserves it."
