Tottenham Manager Boost: Argentina to drop Mauricio Pochettino interest, here's why
ARGENTINA could end their interest in Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino in favour of Jorge Sampaoli, according to reports.
Mauricio Pochettino states he could NEVER mange Barcelona
Tottenham manager Pochettino is wanted by the Argentina FA (AFA) as they seek to replace Edgardo Bauza, Express Sport understands.
Bauza has overseen a downturn in results and performances at Argentina, who currently sit outside the qualification spots for the 2018 World Cup.
Failure to make the tournament in Russia is not an option for the AFA and Pochettino is on their list of candidates to come in and turn things around.
But Tottenham’s reluctance to let Pochettino leave - and Argentina’s inability to match his wages at White Hart Lane - mean the AFA are looking at other candidates.
And Chilean newspaper La Cuarta claim Sampaoli is now their main target.
According to the report, Argentina hope they can entice Sampaoli to the position and believe they can get Sevilla to agree to his release.

Edgardo Bauza could lose his job as Argentina manager
Sampaoli only joined Sevilla at the start of the season after leading Chile to Copa America glory last summer.
The Argentine, 57, was courted for the national post after the Copa America success but decided to test his abilities in Europe.
Sevilla have enjoyed a strong season under Sampaoli and sit fourth in La Liga - a point off third-place Atletico Madrid.
The report claims Sevilla would demand £1.3million to let their manager go, while Bauza’s compensation package will cost the association £784,000.
