And the Mail on Sunday claim Mourinho’s pursuit of a holding midfielder dates back to his success during his Chelsea days.
It is said he wants a player of the Claude Makelele role, as the Frenchman helped him secure his two first title wins in charge of the Blues.
Mourinho it is believed, is still rueing the fact he missed out on N’Golo Kante, who signed for the west London outfit from Leicester for £30m last summer.

And it is claimed the Portuguese tactician wants a player of the Makele or Kante mould to give Paul Pogba more licence to push further forward.
As things stand, Mourinho isn’t sure whether Pogba or Herrera are ‘natural’ holders.
