Portuguese Caixinha was unveiled as the new Rangers manager today after Mark Warburton left the club last month.
Caixinha was in the stands yesterday as Rangers earned a point at Celtic Park after Clint Hill’s late equaliser.
And the 46-year-old hopes to forge his own reputation in Glasgow, but is pleased to have Manchester United boss Mourinho as a contact in the game.

He said: "Jose is a special guy, a fantastic guy and I'm glad to be his friend. He is having his way and I hope to have my way as well.”
Caixinha is represented by former Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes and was interviewed for the job in London last month.
He became the board’s no.1 candidate after blowing them away in the meeting.
And Caixinha insists Mendes didn’t need to convince him when the offer came in.
"When I received the message from Pedro in order for the possibility to be interviewed, he didn't say anything to me about the club but suddenly came on my mind - Rangers," Caixinha said.
"I cannot tell you why but it goes like this, so, of course, he has that importance and he is helping us along the way in order to know the reality and how big this club is."
