MARK WARBURTON has reportedly been lined up as a surprise choice to replace Arsenal’s academy chief Andries Jonker.
Andries Jonker is set to become the new Wolfsburg boss
After serving Arsenal in his role for two years, the 54-year-old is set to become the new Wolfsburg manager.
Jonker was thought to have been offered the post at the weekend following the sacking of Valerian Ismael.
Reports emerged earlier today suggesting the Gunners have already made an approach for Barcelona’s Pep Segura, who oversees player development for their B team.
Mark Warburton is being considered as a potential replacement
But the Daily Mirror claim former Rangers manager Warburton has emerged as a surprise candidate for the role.
Warburton quit the Light Blues earlier this month following a poor sequence of results.
It is said the Gunners think very highly of the ex-Brentford boss and would be a popular choice.
The report also indicates that the north London outfit are also exploring the option of promoting Steve Morrow from his supervisory role.
