Newcastle were stunned by Bristol City on Saturday, going in at half-time 2-0 down at St James' Park.
The Toon rallied in the second-half and an own goal from Korey Smith and 82nd-minute header from Ciaran Clark saw them draw level.
However, the result saw the Magpies lose top spot to Brighton who capitalised with a 3-0 home win against Reading.

And Rafa Benitez has revealed the mood was not good in the Newcastle dressing room - particularly at half-time.
“At half-time it wasn’t the best," Benitez said.
“At the end of the game it was much better - they realised their reaction was really good.
"But also we have the feeling we have lost two points - we created enough chances to win the game.
It was a difficult situation for everyone
“You just have to analyse what went wrong and don’t do it again.
“It was a difficult situation for everyone."
Newcastle take on Brighton on Tuesday (7.45pm) and could regain top spot in the Championship with a win over Chris Hughton's men.
