Ray Parlour: Why Arsenal will never beat Man Utd or Chelsea to Antoine Griezmann
ARSENAL will not be able to compete financially with Manchester United or Chelsea for Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, according to Ray Parlour.
Antoine Griezmann is a target for Chelsea and Manchester United
Antoine Griezmann is expected to be one of the summer's big-money transfers with a host of Europe's top clubs in for the striker.
Express Sport understands Chelsea are considering a world-record bid for the Atletico Madrid star and there is also strong interest from Manchester United.
However, Arsenal legend Ray Parlour thinks there is no way his former club can compete with the financial might of either club for the 25-year-old.
Arsene Wenger's side cannot complete financially with Manchester United and Chelsea
Insider claims Manchester United can't build a team around Griezmann
"I’d love to see what the board think now, to see how they act in this transfer window," Parlour told talkSPORT.
"Griezmann may be available. He’ll probably go to Man United or Chelsea, I don’t know.
"The wages are going to be the problem.
"Why should Griezmann play for Arsenal if Manchester United or Chelsea can offer him £100,000 more a week?
Griezmann is understood to have an £86million release clause but a bidding war could see his price driven above Paul Pogba's record £89m fee.
The Frenchman is under contract with Atletico until June 2021.
