But Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim Chelsea are hopeful a £34.5million (€40m) deal can convince Benfica to sell their star man.
According to the report, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have looked at the 23-year-old but decided against making an offer.
United are pushing for their own transfers, with Victor Lindelof - also at Benfica - their top target.
