Steven Gerrard: Why this Liverpool star should be frustrated with his team-mates
STEVEN GERRARD admits he felt frustrated for Daniel Sturridge after the Liverpool striker struggled to make an impression in the 1-0 win over Plymouth.
The England international was one of few senior stars selected to face the League Two side at Home Park.
But the 27-year-old was unable to get into the match and was displeased to be subbed off in the second half by Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool's Sheyi Ojo comes on as a substitute to replace Daniel Sturridge
It means Sturridge remains on just five goals for the season.
And Gerrard feels Sturridge's performance was hurt by a lack of service from midfield.
Former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard covered the match for BT Sport
Gerrard told BT Sport: "I was a bit frustrated for Sturridge myself tonight.
"He made a lot of runs and the midfield were playing too safe.
"He'll be frustrated on the bus tonight knowing he made the runs and didn't get the ball."
