West Ham urged to make £30m on Dimitri Payet sale: Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal keen
WEST HAM should cash in now on wantaway playmaker Dimitri Payet, believes Paul Merson.
Paul Merson: Sell Payet for £30m bring in Martial for £20m
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic yesterday revealed Payet wants to leave the club.
Payet, 29, is currently on £125,000 a week at the London Stadium but is keen to leave the inconsistent Premier League side.
Chelsea are said to be frontrunners for his signature, while Marseille are also interested in re-signing their former player.
And Merson believes the Hammers should sell him as soon as possible before the situation becomes disruptive.
"Let’s be honest, if it wasn’t for West Ham then we probably wouldn’t even know who Payet is - they put him on the map and then he treats them like this," Merson told Sky Sports.
"I’d say get rid of him, get £30million and drop him off.
"You don’t want people like that around who just use the club."
West Ham don't want to sell Dimitri Payet
Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all want to sign Payet
Payet has scored just three goals for West Ham this season
Express Sport understands Marseille's initial £20m offer for Payet was swiftly rejected by Hammers officials.
Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in the France international, who enjoyed a stellar campaign with West Ham last season and also impressed at Euro 2016.
United manager Jose Mourinho is eyeing new recruits this winter and has already offloaded Morgan Schneiderlin onto Everton, while Memphis Depay is for sale.
And Arsenal, who were linked with Payet last summer, may also push for the playmaker as manager Arsene Wenger seeks to bolster their title hopes.
