Antonio Conte changed to the 3-4-3 formation after the 3-0 defeat by Arsenal in September.
Chelsea have since won 11 straight Premier League games and now sit six points clear at the top of the table.
And Willian believes the formation is working so well because it allows him and his team-mates more freedom.
Chelsea star Willian has heaped praise on Antonio Conte's 3-4-3 system
“We have changed it a little bit,” Willian told Sky Sports. “There’s more freedom. I have more freedom to play.
"I can move inside, I can go to the left and to the right and I think it’s much better.
“The new formation helps players like me, helps Diego [Costa] and helps Eden [Hazard] in front. We can move around as we have that freedom."

Willian also believes Conte's training methods are having a positive impact on his Chelsea team-mates.
"The way we are training makes us more confident in the games too. We can run and put pressure on the opponents," the Brazilian added.
"And when you win game by game, this brings even more confidence. We have to keep it going.
"The target is to stay together and to play together. If we trust in our team-mates then we have a great chance to win the title this season."
