EXPRESS SPORT brings you the latest Liverpool news.
Klopp feeling 'optimistic' about Coutinho's injury
Philippe Coutinho is hoping to be fit for Liverpool’s New Year’s Eve showdown with Manchester City.
Initial reports suggested the Brazilian playmaker was set to be sidelined for six weeks with an ankle injury he suffered during the 2-0 Premier League win over Sunderland after colliding with Didier N’Dong.
It was claimed he could return against Manchester United in mid-January, but Express Sport understands he has set his sights on returning against City at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly plotting a raid on former club Borussia Dortmund for Christian Pulisic in the wake of Coutinho’s injury blow.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim Klopp will now step up his pursuit of Pulisic and move for him in January.
The report adds Dortmund will not let their young prodigy leave for any less than £25million.

Virgil van Dijk has impressed for Southampton since his move from Celtic
Paul Merson reckons Liverpool could win the league if Klopp splashes the cash on Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in January.
“For me, I think if Liverpool get together and go and buy Van Dijk for £50 million in January, they will take some beating," Merson told talkSPORT.
“They’ve got the firepower going forward, I just don’t think they’ve got it at the back.
“I know they’ve done it this season so far, but defensively they aren’t going to be good enough [against the big teams].”
