That is according to Manchester United legend-turned-pundit Roy Keane.
Ozil currently has two years left to run on a £140,000-a-week deal at the Emirates.
The German midfielder, who scored a hat-trick in the Gunners’ 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets last night, is thought to be demanding a £250,000-a-week contract that would shatter Arsenal’s wage structure.
Despite there being uncertainty over Ozil’s future, Keane has explained it is of paramount importance to tie the player down to a new deal soon.
“Getting Ozil signed up is vital for the club and what will help them is winning trophies,” Keane said.
