The Liverpool centre-half is expected to make his home bow when Jurgen Klopp’s side face Leicester on Saturday (5.30).
Having started at the heart of the Reds’ defence in their last Premier League clash at Tottenham, Matip is now looking to establish himself on Merseyside.
Following his summer switch from Schalke, the 25-year-old is now looking forward to his first experience at Liverpool’s historic ground.
And when the Reds’ iconic anthem plays, it will be a cherished moment for Matip.
"I've been waiting the whole pre-season to make my first steps at the stadium," Matip said.
"I think Liverpool is famous for its stadium, for its atmosphere. It will be a great atmosphere and I'll be happy when I can play there.
Joel Matip's league debut for Liverpool came at Spurs prior to the international break in a 1-1 draw
"To hear 'You'll Never Walk Alone' for the first time at the stadium will be a special moment and I will enjoy it."
Liverpool have begun the new season with four away clashes in all competitions while Anfield underwent redevelopment.
The stadium’s Main Stand was expanded to increase capacity figures by a further 8,500 to a total of 54,000.
