Chelsea have reportedly agreed a £24million deal with Fiorentina for the uncapped Spaniard as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his options in defence.
The Blues offloaded left-back Baba Rahman to Schalke on a season-long loan earlier this summer because he was deemed too attacking for Conte's liking.

Alonso's move to Stamford Bridge looks set to go ahead - with the former Real Madrid youngster following Chelsea's official Twitter account this morning.

The 25-year-old has a three-year spell at Bolton before joining Fiorentina in 2013, where he was sent to Sunderland on loan in January 2014.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move to bring Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil defender David Luiz back to the west London club, with reports suggesting they've submitted a £30m bid.
