Bodde's belter
SWANSEA 3 WATFORD 1
SWANSEA gained a psychological advantage over Watford ahead of tomorrow’s Carling Cup rematch between these two sides.
Ferrie Bodde cancelled out Lee Williamson’s opener for Watford with a 30-yard thunderbolt and second-half goals from Jason Scotland and Guillem Bauza secured the points for Swansea.
Manager Roberto Martinez said: “We knew Watford would come looking to impress their new manager and they never stopped working.
“It was important we responded after losing the goal. It was a special strike from Ferrie and he was instrumental in us picking up another important win.”
Watford caretaker-boss Malky Mackay said: “I can’t fault my players as we showed a lot of energy and we gave them licence to attack teams.
“I’m just disappointed here as we gave away a cheap second goal, which cost us. That is something we need to eradicate.”
