Schalke's director of sport Christian Heidel has revealed today that the Bundesliga club have agreed a deal with Spurs for the Algeria international.
Bentaleb has been deemed surplus to requirements by Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino after the 21-year-old managed just five Premier League appearances last term.
Schalke tweeted: "#Heidel on @nabilbentaleb42: We have an agreement with @SpursOfficial. We expect him to participate in training this afternoon. #s04"
But Heidel has moved quickly to shoot down reports linking Schalke with a move for South Korea striker Son Heung-min.

Schalke rule out Son Heung-min move
The 24-year-old only arrived at White Hart Lane from Bayer Leverkusen a year ago, but has already been linked with a return to the Bundesliga with Schalke and Wolfsburg.
Schalke tweeted: "Heung Min #Son is an excellent footballer. We know him from his time at @HSV and @bayer04_en but he has nothing to do with us. #s04"
