Steven Pienaar is wanted by David Moyes at Sunderland
The Black Cats, who have failed to sign a player this summer, are running the rule over Pienaar and N’Zogbia during a trial spell.
New manager David Moyes is weighing up a reunion with 34-year-old Pienaar, who was released by Everton this summer.
The South African was hit by injuries during his second spell at Goodison and is now looking to rebuild his top-flight career in England.
N’Zogbia, 30, made his name with near neighbours Newcastle but has since seen his career stagnate. He is a free agent after being dumped by Aston Villa at the end of last season.

Moyes’ main concern is his defence with Wes Brown, Sebastian Coates and Santiago Vergini having departed.
Croatia’s £5million-rated Dynamo Kiev defender Domagoj Vida is on his radar.
