Baba Rahman joins Schalke on loan for the 2016/17 season
The Ghana international returns to the Bundesliga after just a year at Stamford Bridge, where he joined a year ago from Augsburg for an initial £14million.
The 22-year-old signed a five-year deal at the then-Premier League champions, but struggled to find his feet in England and managed just 15 league appearances last term.
A Chelsea statement read: "Baba Rahman has today joined Schalke on a season-long loan.
"The move is a return to the Bundesliga for the Ghanaian left-back who signed for Chelsea from Augsburg a year ago."
Schalke confirmed on their website that Rahman successfully passed his medical on Sunday, and manager Markus Weinzierl can't wait to work with him.
"Abdul is a strong offensive left-back, whose qualities I am absolutely convinced," Weinzierl said. "For our team with his attitude, he is also a really good guy."
