Aston Villa to release first-team player to speed up transfer to Middlesbrough
ASTON VILLA are willing to let Brad Guzan leave on a free transfer to speed up his move to Middlesbrough, according to reports.
Aston Villa are reportedly keen on letting Brac Guzan leave on a free transfer
The 31-year-old's future has been cast into doubt following the appointment of Roberto Di Matteo and the £4.25million signing of Pierluigi Gollini from Hellas Verona earlier this month.
Guzan has one year remaining on his contract at Villa and has reportedly been targeted as goalkeeper back-up by newly-promoted Premier League side Middlesbrough.
The USA international made 28 appearances as Villa were relegated with the third-lowest points tally in Premier League history last season.
And he shouldered plenty of the blame from fans for their top-flight exit, as part of a backline which conceded 76 goals in 38 games.
