The Manchester United midfielder played in Germany's quarter-final win over Italy on Saturday.
He missed his spot kick in the penalty shoot-out but Germany went through regardless 6-5.
The Germans will face France in the semi-final on Thursday and manager Joachim Loew is remaining optimistic about Schweinsteiger's chances of playing.

Schweinsteiger's right knee is being monitored, the DFB have confirmed.
He was spotted in training at Germany's Euro 2016 HQ in Evian-les-Bains today.
The 31-year-old will be given a period of rest after the tournament before heading back to Manchester for pre-season training.
