Newcastle eye Arsenal defender as Rafa Benitez plans summer overhaul
ISAAC HAYDEN is a transfer target for Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez.
Isaac Hayden spent last season with Hull City
The Arsenal midfielder spent last season on loan at Hull, making 18 appearances in the Championship.
Hayden's versatility makes him an attractive prospect as he is comfortable as a defensive midfield and at centre-back.
And according to the Shields Gazette, Benitez is looking at Hayden as a replacement for Steven Taylor.
The long serving Taylor has turned down a new contract offer from the club and will leave St James’ Park this summer.
Arsenal's Most Expensive Transfers
It means at least one defender will need to be brought in ahead of a busy Championship campaign.
Newcastle are also said to be looking at Queens Park Rangers’ Steven Caulker.
