Sunderland set sights on striker swoop: Sam Allardyce closes in on £11m target
DIAFRA SAKHO is set to become Sam Allardyce's first signing of the summer with West Ham ready to accept Sunderland's £11m offer.
Diafra Sakho joined West Ham from Metz in 2014
The Black Cats tabled the bid today and hope to be given the go-ahead to discuss personal terms with the Senegal striker early next week.
West Brom are also interested in signing Sakho but the 26-year-old wants to link up again with Allardyce, who signed him from Metz when he was in charge of the Hammers.
Sunderland remain keen on Swansea pair Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew and have also enquired about Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ibai Gomez, who is available for a cut-price £2.5m.
Allardyce is determined to have the majority of his new recruits signed, sealed and delivered by the time his squad reports back for pre-season training early next month.
