Juventus eye stunning £38m plus striker swap deal: Man United and Arsenal frozen out
JUVENTUS will reportedly use striker Alvaro Morata as a bargaining chip when negotiating a deal to sign Real Madrid's James Rodriguez in a move that impacts two English clubs.
Corriere dello Sport claim Rodriguez (left) and Morata could swap clubs this summer
Arsenal are thought to be chasing 23-year-old Morata while Manchester United are keen to sign World Cup hero Rodriguez.
But the Premier League duo could be frozen out of the market if Juve and Real agree on a deal.
That is according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who claim Juve have given up hope of retaining Morata past the summer and are therefore considering their options.
Express Sport understands United are monitoring Rodriguez and held talks with Real in January.
His agent Jorge Mendes was said to have fixed a £62.5m valuation with Real that he then took back to United to consider.
United are understood to be working on a number of deals despite uncertainty over manager Louis van Gaal's future.
Express Sport also understands the Dutchman could be replaced by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at the end of the season.
James Rodriguez - 5 things you need to know
United will play in the Europa League next season and will win their first major trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 if they beat Crystal Palace in Saturday's FA Cup final.
As for Arsenal, manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking at a number of options up front as he seeks a striker to fill in for the injured Danny Welbeck.
