Ronald Koeman (left) and Frank de Boer are candidates for the Everton job
Express Sport understands Martinez will be axed after a disappointing second half of the season at Goodison Park.
Everton have slipped to 12th in the Premier League and could finish as low as 16th if they lose to relegated Norwich on Sunday (3pm) and other results go against them.
And De Boer is 4/11 favourite with some bookmakers to land the job on Merseyside.
Hughes dismisses Everton rumours
Everton's hierarchy met this morning to agree on Martinez's departure, although the terms of his severance package have not yet been finalised.
Fans are planning a protest against the boss following their 3-0 defeat at Sunderland last night that secured the Black Cats their Premier League status for another year.
New major shareholder Farhad Moshiri will lead the search for Martinez's successor.
Former manager David Moyes - also linked to the vacant Celtic post - is 11/1 to return to Goodison Park, while Ireland head coach Martin O'Neill (20/1) may seek a return to club management after Euro 2016.
