Dortmund contract talks break down with star forward: Chelsea and Arsenal lurking
HENRIKH MKHITARYAN has reportedly failed to agree a new deal with Borussia Dortmund - leaving Chelsea ready to pounce.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan played in 11 of Dortmund's 12 Europa League games this season
The Blues are eyeing a summer deal for the attacking midfielder and Antonio Conte’s chances of securing a move appear to have improved.
According to the Mirror, Dortmund have refused to give in to Mkhitaryan’s demands which includes a buyout clause in his new contract.
The Armenia international has one more year left on his current deal, but an extension looks unlikely.
Dortmund’s reluctance to put a buyout clause in the 27-year-old’s contract stems from their loss of Mario Gotze.
The World Cup winner was sold to Bayern Munich for £31million in 2013 as Dortmund were powerless to stop their Bundesliga rivals signing their best player.
Meanwhile, neither Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marco Reus have buyout clauses in their deals, with Dortmund keen to hold onto their major assets.
But with only one-year left on his contract, Dortmund could reportedly sell Mkhitaryan for around £24m, with Juventus and Arsenal also interested.
