1884
The decision to found Leicester Fosse, the forerunner of Leicester City, was taken in the garden shed of a house on Fosse Road in Leicester.
The Victorian football club emerged from a chapel background and its founders went to a Bible Class run by Rev Llewellyn Parsons.
1919
Leicester Fosse was reformed as Leicester City Football Club when the Football League resumed in 1919 after its suspension during World War One.
The new name reflected the fact that Leicester had been granted city status.
1929
Leicester achieved its highest ever finish in the Football League by finishing second to Sheffield Wednesday in 1929.
1949
Leicester City managed to reach the FA Cup final for the first time in its history but lost 3–1 to Wolves in 1949.
1969
Leicester City managed to reach the FA club final for the last time in its history to date. It also reached the final in 1961 and 1963.
1971
Leicester won the Charity Shield for the first and only time against Liverpool.
1977
Gary Lineker started out at his hometown club, Leicester City, after leaving school in 1977. He turned professional in the 1978-79 season.
2000
Leicester won the League Cup for a third time.
2014
Leicester were promoted to the Premier League after a 10-year absence in 2014.
The football club also won the Football League Championship. It was seventh time that the club became champions of England's second tier.
2015
Leicester was left battling to escape the relegation zone at the end of the Premier League season in 2015.
2016
Leicester won their first ever Premier League title in the football club’s 132-year history.
