Liverpool transfer update: £23m deal may fall through despite club lining up replacements
LIVERPOOL will struggle to sign Lazio's Antonio Candreva this summer despite the Rome club earmarking two replacements for the Italy international.
Lazio could reportedly offload Antonio Candreva onto another Italian club
The Reds emerged as suitors for Candreva earlier this year and are believed to be eyeing a swoop at the end of the season.
Chelsea were also linked to the player, with incoming manager Antonio Conte supposedly a fan.
Italian outlet ITA Sport Press claimed last month he was available for £23.2million.
And now TV station Rai Sport report Lazio are ready to offload the star after sourcing cover.
But Liverpool's hopes of securing the star may still be dashed as Inter Milan prepare to beat off rivals to the ace.
According to the claims, Inter are determined to bolster their squad after also failing to secure Champions League football.
Manager Roberto Mancini is to be given a hefty transfer kitty from owner Erick Thohir and further investment from a Chinese consortium could also book the boss' spending power.
Ex-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers put through boxing workout
As for Liverpool, manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to offload a number of players in order to free up space for new recruits.
Strikers Mario Balotelli and Christian Benteke appear on their way out of the club, while Klopp is reportedly hoping to sign Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich this summer.
