Swansea 3 - Liverpool 1: Klopp's experiment fails as Ayew takes advantage of rested Reds
ANDRE AYEW dealt Liverpool's top six hopes a huge blow by running Jurgen Klopp's fresh-look side ragged at the Liberty Stadium.
Jurgen Klopp's side failed to close the gap on the top six at Swansea
Swansea's 3-1 victory was well deserved as Liverpool had one eye on their Europa League semi-final second leg.
A massive eight changes to their starting line-up saw Klopp field a weakened side and Francesco Guidolin's men took full advantage.
After an early onslaught in Wales, Swansea capitalised on their early pressure as Ayew met Gylfi Sigurdsson's corner with a powerful header as he was left unopposed in the box.
But Ayew almost immediately restored the two-goal lead as he bullied Sheyi Ojo off the ball inside the area before swivelling and striking low past Simon Mignolet.
A late red card for Brad Smith summed up a miserable day for Klopp's side as he received a second yellow card for a high challenge on Kyle Naughton.
Liverpool stay seventh ahead of their crucial clash with Villarreal on Thursday, while the safe Swans climbed to 13th.
