Revealed: Man United set return date after Louis van Gaal makes star play through injury
MANCHESTER UNITED hope Wayne Rooney will be fit to return from injury next month as reports emerge that he may have aggravated his knee problem during the defeat to Sunderland.
He has already missed 10 games for United and will likely be out until 16 April when Aston Villa visit Old Trafford.
That is a cautious return date, with United reportedly willing to give Rooney more time to recover if he doesn't feel comfortable.
United are chasing a top-four finish this season and could do with their star striker, although his absence has triggered the welcome emergence of Marcus Rashford up front.
His England place is now under threat with both Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy impressing in Berlin, while Daniel Sturridge will likely start for Roy Hodgson's men at Wembley this evening.
