But the 19-year-old was instead sent out on loan to La Liga side Real Betis as the Premier League champions had no desire to let him leave on a permanent basis.
He told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad: "It was simple: many English clubs wanted to buy me. Man U, City, Arsenal…but only rent was an option for Chelsea."

Speaking ahead of tomorrow night's friendly with Czech Republic, the 34-year-old said: "Yes, there is interest from the Premier League, I can confirm that.
"The Premier League is the league in the world all people and fans speak about. A lot of things have to feel fine when I'm going to take a decision this summer."
