Tottenham plan £100,000-a-week contract offer for Harry Kane to ward off Man United
TOTTENHAM are planning a new summer deal for England striker Harry Kane that could be worth up to £100,000 a week.
Tottenham are planning to offer Harry Kane a new £100,000-a-week contract
Kane is set to lead England's attack in their friendly in Berlin against Germany on Saturday, and is expected to be Roy Hodgson's first-choice centre-forward at the European Championships in France this summer.
Kane signed a five-and-a-half-year deal 12 months ago that put him on £35,000 a week, but the improved contract will more than double the 22-year-old's basic wages to around £75,000 a week.
On top of that there will be goal and appearance bonuses, plus add-ons for international appearances and qualification for the Champions League.
Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen is also in line for a new £55,000-a-week deal, and Pochettino himself is in talks over a new contract that will almost double his current £3.5m-a-year deal.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is determined to tie down all the key components of a staff and squad that have propelled the club into a title-winning position for the first time since 1985.
Kane's England team-mate Dele Alli and midfielder Moussa Dembele have already committed themselves to new deals recently.
