Paul Ince reckons Louis van Gaal deserves more time at Manchester United after Liverpool defeat
Paul Ince reckons Louis van Gaal should be given more time at Manchester United.
The Red Devils were knocked out of the Europa League last night following a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, which has heaped further pressure on the Dutchman to secure Champions League football at the club next season.
But Ince reckons he should be given more time to prove himself at the club.
Ince told BT Sport: “I like to think as a manager you must give him time.
“But I don’t know, because David Moyes didn’t get enough time.
“When you are managing United the fans are expecting you to be competing for every competition. “If you are not doing that, then it is down to the people upstairs to decide which is the best way forward.”
United are ready to make a summer bid for Brazilian wonderkid Thiago Maia.
That is according to website Sport Witness, who claim one of the 18-year-old's agents, Alexis Malavolta of Figer Group, revealed United were one of three clubs interested in signing him.
“Manchester United is a club which needs no comments. I read in websites, newspapers and receive calls about these clubs, that also United and Chelsea are monitoring them to buy him," Malavolta said.
"For now, no official interest or official bids have come. But if they come, I’m sure Thiago Maia will analyse it very carefully."
It is also understood that he rejected a move to Arsenal in the December after they lodged a bid for the Santos midfielder.
