Liverpool to cover £40,000 of wages if West Ham deal goes through
WEST HAM are interested in signing Christian Benteke - but Liverpool will have to contribute to his wages if the striker moves this summer, according to reports.
Christian Benteke has scored just eight goals all season
Benteke, 25, has endured a mixed debut season at Anfield.
He arrived from Aston Villa in a £32.5million deal only last summer but has so far netted just eight times.
The Belgium international has struggled to get playing time since new manager Jurgen Klopp arrived at the club back in October.
It is claimed the Hammers will only be willing to offer him £80,000 a week, with Liverpool being made to cover the extra £40,000.
West Ham have been linked with a number of high-profile players over recent months as they near their move to the Olympic Stadium.
Slaven Bilic has already said Paris Saint-Germain star Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out of their league, while Arsenal duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere have been linked with switches.
As for Benteke, The Daily Mirror claim Liverpool could even cover the entirety of his wages if they want to offload him this summer, with Alexandre Lacazette touted to replace him.
