Watch: Manchester United ace faces three-match ban after elbow on Liverpool's Emre Can
MAROUANE FELLAINI faces a three-match ban from UEFA after he appeared to elbow Liverpool's Emre Can in last night's 2-0 defeat at Anfield.
Referee Carlos Velasco Carballo talks to Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini
The Belgian, who was described by his manager Louis van Gaal as one of Manchester United's best players on the night, was spotted clashing with Can in stoppage time.
But the incident was missed by Spanish referee Carlos Velasco Carballo and Europe's governing body are likely to take retrospective action.
Former Premier League and World Cup referee Howard Webb told BT Sport: “To top off a bad night for Manchester United they might face the second leg without Marouane Fellaini.
“At the very end of the game he had words with Emre Can and ended up throwing a left arm in the face of Emre Can.

“If the referees had seen that it would have been a red card for sure and UEFA might want to have a little look at that as well.
“It’s clearly an act of violent conduct and he’s lucky that none of the six officials saw it on the day but it just sums up a bad day for Manchester United.”
The second leg takes place at Old Trafford next Thursday.
