The 18-year-old striker guided United to s 3-2 win over title-challengers Arsenal yesterday afternoon with a first-half brace before setting up Ander Herrera for the winning goal.
And Mata has hailed his young team-mate but also highlighted the impact of the other academy graduates, who have plugged the holes of United's injury-plagued first team squad of late.
Rashford started up front following injuries to Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney, while youngsters Guillermo Varela, Tim Fosu-Mensah and James Weir also featured at Old Trafford.
"Marcus is on fire. He scored two goals against Midtjylland and now again against Arsenal," Mata told the club's official website.

"But the others who came in to play in defence and midfield were also great. I think today is a day to be proud of the club and its academy - we've shown the level that we have."
The win over the Arsene Wenger's side lifted United back to fifth in the Premier League, three points behind local rivals Manchester City who have a game in hand.
