Leeds manager Steve Evans: What I think about Scott Wootton's FA Cup own goal
STEVE EVANS bemoaned Leeds' bad luck as their FA Cup journey was ended by Watford.
Evans said he felt for Wootton after his freakish own goal
United had beaten Rotherham and Bolton on their way to the fifth round but they couldn't get past their Premier League opponents.
After an even first half, Scott Wootton turned the ball into his own net after the break to send Leeds crashing out of the competition.
"It's a cruel way to go out of the cup," Evans said.
"I'll go away thinking about how hard we've worked and also thinking about what happened in the second half," Evans added.
"Watford stepped it up and we heard loud voices in the tunnel at half-time so we knew what was happening.
"And they're good players, multimillion-pound players.
"But we got into good areas at both ends of the pitch, but we made sloppy passes and gave the ball away."
