William Carvalho has agreed a new deal with Sporting Lisbon
Carvalho is one of the most sought-after young players in European football, and has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal were linked with a move for the 23-year-old last summer, but he suffered a broken tibia at the European Under-21 championships, where he was named player of the tournament, killing any potential transfer.
But he will now be staying in Portugal after a statement on Sporting's official website states he has agreed a new deal which includes a £35million buy-out clause.
Carvalho, who is represented by high-profile agent Jorge Mendes, has 15 international caps for Portugal.
He has featured 22 times in all competitions for Sporting this season, and has scored two goals.
