McGeady, 29, has agreed a loan deal at Hillsborough until the end of the season.
Leeds were understood to be have been trailing McGeady for some weeks as they seek to boost their Championship squad.
Manager Steve Evans claimed earlier in January that the Republic of Ireland player would want to join his side if he was willing to drop down from the Premier League.
Leeds, meanwhile, sit 14th in the Championship with Chris Wood their top scorer with eight goals.
As for McGeady, the former Celtic man has played just once for Everton all season, yet boasts three appearances for Ireland since the summer.
