Liverpool are eyeing a shock January move for Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross, according to reports.
Kop boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to still be concerned about his defensive options despite signing Steven Caulker on loan from Queens Park Rangers.
And according to Spanish website Fichajes, Klopp has identified Shawcross as a potential signing that could help resolve his side’s defensive frailties.
Shawcross, who is currently sidelined through injury, has been a vital player for Mark Hughes since joining Stoke from Manchester United in 2008.

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of £38million Shakhtar Donetsk striker Alex Teixeira.
The Reds have had two bids rejected for the 26-year-old by the Ukrainian club this month, but are reportedly still keen on securing a deal for the Brazilian with the player openly admitting he wants to leave Shakhtar.
And Shakhtar head coach Mircea Lucescu has helped pave the way for Liverpool to sign him after admitting he won’t keep a player against his desire.
"I don’t want to keep a player against his desire. He wants to play in a big championship," Lucescu told FourFourTwo.
"Our president knows when it is the time for Teixeira to go.
