Misfiring Chelsea striker Diego Costa lined up with £28m return to Atletico Madrid
ATLETICO MADRID are considering providing Diego Costa with an escape route out of Chelsea, according to reports.
Diego Costa - Spotlight on
Costa has looked a shadow of the striker that flourished in his debut season at Stamford Bridge and has scored just four goals this campaign.
The Spanish forward had a reported run-in with Jose Mourinho during the Blues’ 4-0 Champions League win over Maccabi Tel Aviv last month.
Costa even appeared to throw his bib at Mourinho during the goalless draw away to Tottenham after being dropped from the first team.
Mourinho is in the market for a forward, with Thomas Muller thought to be one of several targets being identified.
However, according to Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo, Atletico are pondering bringing Costa back to the Vicente Calderon.
The report suggests that they are prepared to trigger his release clause, which is thought to be £28million, even though the Blues paid £32m for him in 2014.

It is suggested that Jackson Martinez could be the striker that makes way for Costa’s arrival.
Chelsea have also been tracking Antoine Griezmann, who is thought to have a £48m release clause in his contract.
