Smith worth Scots recall
MOTHERWELL manager Mark McGhee has backed UEFA Cup hero Graeme Smith to go out and grab a Scotland recall.
The 25-year-old keeper produced the performance of his life to keep Well’s European hopes alive against French side Nancy.[>

Smith, who also saved a penalty in the 1-0 defeat, will be hoping to keep his good run of form going against former club Rangers tomorrow and McGhee believes if he does it won’t be long before he is breathing down the necks of Craig Gordon and Allan McGregor again.[>
[>
McGhee said: “Graeme was terrific against Nancy. It wasn’t just his saves but he did the basics well and really took a command of his area.[>
[>
“If he continues to play like that then he has got to come into George Burley’s thoughts.[>
[>
“He has to cut out the odd mistake and keep a good level of consistency but he has definitely shown he is good enough.”[>
McGhee believes his No. 1 will be fired up to do well when he returns to Ibrox with fellow olds boys Bob Malcolm and Stephen Hughes.[>

“I love going to Ibrox, McGhee admitted. "I loved going there as a player. I’m sure my players are the same and there are also the likes of Hughes, Bob and Graeme Smith, who are all ex-Rangers players and want to go back and do well."[>
