Manchester United to unveil financial drop the size of Anthony Martial's transfer fee
MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly lost out on £35million by failing to qualify for last season's Champions League - but it hasn't stopped them spending big on transfers.
But Louis van Gaal picked up the managerial reins last summer and hauled United from their lowest place in the English football since 1990 back into Europe's elite club competition.
Van Gaal has spent around £250m on new signings since arriving at the club, bringing in just shy of £95m from sales.
He landed six players in the recent transfer window, which included the £36m outlay for 19-year-old Frenchman Anthony Martial.
And the Telegraph claim United's one-season exile from the Champions League cost them about the same as Martial's price tag.
Having announced turnover of £433.2m for last year, United issued an advisory notice when publishing their third-quarter accounts for May. That stated a projected figure for the 2014/15 accounts of between £385m-£395m.

And the main cause for that reduced turnover is understood to be the lack of prize money and TV revenue that comes from Champions League football.
However, in a slight boost for the United coffers, they did not have to pay player bonuses that were a main part of the £3.2m staff costs drop over the period.
