The 20-year-old stepped up to the plate and staked his claim to become the Gunners' first-choice right-back, which has continued into this season.
And Debuchy has admitted he came close to leaving the north London club after joining for £12million from Newcastle last year.
He told French newspaper L'Equipe: "It is difficult. Even if I had not played a lot last season, in my head I would return to start after my recovery.
