And Manchester United midfielder Schweinsteiger revealed the team are wary of the consequences defeat in either clash could bring.
"We have to win both games, that's it," the captain said.
"Against Poland we know it is difficult to play against them but we have to win.
"There is no way around it. We just must."
Schweinsteiger moved to the Premier League this summer and after the international break is expected to play against Germany team-mate Emre Can when United host Liverpool on 12 September.
But Can explained his focus for now is solely on reaching the European Championships.
"Two wins, six points and a big step towards France," Can said. "This is what we want and we have the quality to do it.
"Personally I also hope that I will make my debut for the senior team."
