Manager Roberto Martinez is happy to stick with the 21-year-old – and praised chairman Bill Kenwright for turning down Stones’ request to leave.
Martinez said: “The chairman was really strong yesterday. The fans are going to play an incredible role in helping John now.”
Asked if Stones was in the right frame of mind to face Spurs, Martinez said: “He will be, because he’s at the perfect football club.

Roberto Martinez says John Stones will start against Tottenham tomorrow
“It’s important to concentrate on the next game and help each other to help the players to enjoy their football. We need to forget about the speculation. Let’s see it as a compliment that clubs are interested in our players.”
Chelsea have had three bids for Stones rejected this summer, but Martinez said there had been no fourth offer since the defender submitted his transfer request on Tuesday. “Not at all, no,” he said.
