The former Barcelona striker has known Mourinho since he worked as an interpreter at the Nou Camp.
And Stoichkov, who visited Mourinho at the club's Cobham training base yesterday, can't believe the way the Portuguese tactician has been treated over his handling of the Carneiro incident.
"It's a special team, a special club," Stoichkov told Chelsea TV as quoted by the London Evening Standard.
"I don't know why the people don't understand why it's not special - it's because Mourinho is special, the players are special, the president is special, the fans are special.

Jose Mourinho rants at the Chelsea medical staff during their 2-2 draw against Swansea
"Soccer is my life. For me Jose is a friend as well as a coach. This guy opens the door for everybody. People don't understand Mourinho.
"I understand him. I worked every day in the locker room and in the field, I played for him. For me he is a different guy.
"He watches everything. He is great for training. I remember him telling me in the past that Monday-Friday is when you win the game, the game on Saturday or Sunday is only 90 minutes.
"That time passes very quickly but the work between Monday-Friday is very tough. You understand the movement, the free kicks, the pass, so many things to win one game. This is the time Jose goes to work. This is very important."
