Sergio Romero is set for a medical at Manchester United
United are said to have been in talks to sign Romero, who is a free agent after leaving Sampdoria at the end of last season.
And while Roma and Real Madrid were reportedly interested in signing the 28-year-old, United look to be in the lead.
According to Sky Italia, Romero is keen on a move to Old Trafford and is now set for a medical before sealing a deal.
Romeo will replace Victor Valdes as Louis van Gaal's back-up keeper.
Valdes was sacked by the Dutch manager this week after refusing to play with the reserves and failing to follow the club's philosophy.
