Jesse Lingard: I'm hungry for my Manchester United first-team starting spot
JESSE LINGARD is determined to force his way into the Manchester United first-team after the recent influx of summer arrivals.
Jesse Lingard is looking forward to the new season with Manchester United
United have secured the signatures of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian and Memphis Depay in recent weeks.
And while the summer signings will provide a lot of competition for places within Louis van Gaal's squad, Lingard is determined to earn his starting spot alongside United's newest talent.
"There is always going to be competition, no matter where you go," he said.
"You see [Bastian] Schweinsteiger and [Morgan] Schneiderlin come in and it makes you more hungry to do more to get into the team.
"It's healthy competition at the end of the day. Memphis has got a bubbly character about him and [Matteo] Darmian hangs around with the foreign guys a lot.
"There's good vibes in the camp at the moment. We can't wait to get the season under way but, at the moment, we need to concentrate on the games on tour."
